Italian crude steel output down by 15.5pct YoY in Aug

According to the figures released by the Italian steel producers association Federacciai, Italian crude steel output decreased by 15.5% YoY in August 2012, totaling 1.22 million tonnes.

August is the fifth month in a row in which a year on year output fall has been recorded. Moreover, the downtrend has increased its pace as Federacciai posted YoY crude steel production decreases of 1.8% in May 2012, 7.3% in June 2012 and 8.9% in July 2012.

In the first eight months of 2012, total Italian crude steel output amounted to 18.489 million tonnes, down by 1.9% YoY.
